The case for my program: In my view this program features three of our great XIX century composers who knew how to survive the many changes art went throught in the transition it had to make into de XX century. Williams, Elgar and Mahler kept the essence of the romantic music making them three of the great post romantic composers ever lived.

After a back-and-forth battle, "Eternal Stories" by Peter Sachon won 2011's Fantasy Program Contest. Peter is a cellist who has performed all over the United States, Europe and Asia. Mr. Sachon has played for the original Broadway productions of Fiddler on the Roof, The Light in the Piazza, High Fidelity, Legally Blonde, and South Pacific. He has also played in the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra and toured Europe and the U.S. with Pink Martini. As a part of his concert series, The Cello Project, Mr Sachon has premiered more than thirty new works for cello; all written for him by Broadway composers. www.petersachon.com
What? How is this a fantasy? In the last 5 seasons alone I can find at least 69 U.S. performances of the Cello Concerto, 46 of the Fantasia, and 13 of Das Lied. You don’t need to fantasize.
